WHAT I OFFER

I create original oil paintings with a unique and expressive touch, capturing more than just likeness. My portraits aim to reflect the emotion, energy, and essence of the subject.

Available Commission Types:

Portraits of loved ones

• Pet portraits

Sizes & Pricing:

•60cm round wood panel (unframed) - $2199

•60cm x 60cm quality canvas (unframed) - $2199

•50cm x 61cm quality canvas (unframed) - $2199

Framing is not included at this time. However, I have a trusted local framer I can recommend here in Whakatāne, New Zealand.

Each portrait includes up to two people or pets. Additional subjects can be included for an added fee of $150 per extra person or pet. If you have a special request (such as combining elements from different photos), I’m happy to discuss what’s possible.

My Style

My portraits are grounded in realism but brought to life with expressive brushwork, layered textures, and a rich, intuitive use of colour. I aim to capture more than just a likeness. Each piece holds a moment of stillness, tenderness, or curiosity that feels emotionally present.

Brushstrokes remain visible and alive, offering movement and texture across the surface, while the colour palette is chosen to enhance the mood and character of the subject.

Backgrounds are kept minimal with solid colour, carefully selected to complement the subject and elevate the overall composition without distraction. This helps draw the viewer’s focus to what matters most - the person or pet at the heart of the painting. I am happy to discuss other background options with you as I understand the background can hold significant meaning and enhance the portrait in a more meaningful way.

Reference Photos

I work from photographs to create each portrait, so the quality of the reference image is important. Please send clear, high resolution photos that show your subject’s features well, ideally in natural light. The better the photo, the more detail and expression I can bring to the painting.

You’re welcome to send me multiple images if you’re unsure which is best - I’ll help you choose the one that will translate beautifully into a painting.

Materials

Each painting is created using high quality, professional materials from start to finish. I work on premium canvas or carefully prepared wood panels- sealed and primed using archival methods to ensure longevity.

I use only professional grade oil paints for rich colour and lasting vibrancy. Once the painting is fully dry, it is sealed with a protective varnish to preserve the surface and ensure the artwork endures beautifully for years to come.

Timeline

Creating an oil painting is a thoughtful process that includes time for painting, photo update (1 minor change), drying and final varnishing. Please allow 4 months from the date your deposit is received.

Revisions

Care is taken at the beginning of the process to ensure the painting will align with your vision. Once your painting is nearly complete, I’ll send you a photo update for review. At this stage, one minor adjustment can be requested (for example, a small detail or colour tweak).

Payment Terms

• A 50% deposit secures your booking and confirms your spot in the queue.

• The final 50% is due upon completion, before delivery or pickup.

Shipping

Shipping is included for New Zealand Collectors. International shipping is not included in the commission price and will be quoted separately based on your location. Each painting is carefully packaged to protect it in transit, and tracking details will be provided once it’s on its way. If you’re local, I’m happy to arrange a pickup/drop off time with you.

Cancellation & Refunds

Commissions are deeply personal and made to order, which means they are not eligible for refunds. A 50% deposit is required to begin the process, covering materials and the time dedicated to creating your artwork.

If you decide to cancel after work has begun, the deposit will be retained to cover progress made up to that point.

Artist Rights

All rights to the artwork remain with the artist, Eve Bell-iyer. Commissioned paintings are for personal use only and may not be reproduced, resold, or used commercially without written permission.

I reserve the right to share images of the finished artwork for my portfolio, website, or social media unless otherwise requested by the client.
